Developing a plan to sell the house

By now, you’ll have chosen the agent and pretty well know the strategy you’re going to use to get moving. So now we need to build the plan — put it all together into the detailed list of things we’re going to do to sell.

Some work was done recently with focus groups, where some 200 people were asked what information they wanted from an agent to enable them to make a complete plan for selling their house.

The most important things they wanted to know were:

What was going on in the market. Whether the agent had buyers. What the price was likely to be. How to go about marketing, and the costs involved in that. What to do to the house to make it worth more and sell faster.

I’m picking those are some of the questions that you’ve got on your mind right now. A professional agent will follow through each of these issues in sequence. Don’t let the agent move on to the next one until you’ve dealt with the ones before. After working through them all, you’ll be in a position to go to the market with total confidence.
